PICU

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

The four-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Community Medical Center provides a level of care for critically ill children that isn’t found elsewhere in the state. CMC has the only board-certified pediatric surgeon in Montana and the only pediatric neurosurgeon. Joining the PICU team are pediatric anesthesiologists and the specially trained pediatric nurses who care for these young patients.

With an all-RN core staff, the majority of CMC’s pediatric nurses are certified in pediatric care. The hospital also has its own perinatal social workers and dietitians specifically trained in the special needs of children. Joining the pediatric team is the CMC’s chaplain, who provides pastoral care to children and to their families.
